Busy Book & Everywhere Bear
BUSY BOOK
We are always so busy learning together at school but we know that you are so busy at home too! Your grown-ups teach you so much at home every single day when you are having a chat, completing an activity, visiting the shop, or enjoying a walk. There are so many opportunities for learning outside of school.
We would love to work together and hear about your learning journey at home. If there is anything you want to share with us, alongside uploading new learning to Tapestry, you can also use this Busy Book as a scrapbook to document your experiences too. You may choose to draw pictures, practice your writing, stick things in such as train or event tickets, photographs, or something else! You can use your Busy Book to talk about what you have been up to when you show your teachers and friends at school.
There is no set day for you to return the Busy Book - this is just an opportunity as we are passionate about developing an effective parent partnership. We encourage the children to keep it in their reading book bag so they have it in school at all times for when we sit together as it provides a talking prompt and helps the children when we sit together for Key Worker Talk Time.
At the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage, your child will be assessed against the Early Learning Goals. Assessment of these goals are based on the teacher’s professional judgement but should also take account of contributions from the child and their parents/carers. Therefore, we hope that Tapestry and the Busy Book will provide platforms for you to work with us.
EVERYWHERE BEAR
My name is Everywhere Bear. I like to go on adventures, EVERYWHERE! I love meeting new people and seeing new places so I would love to come home with you. I love to share food with you, watch movies, go to the park and visit your family members but my favourite thing to do is snuggle up and share a story together before bedtime, especially if it is your school reading book! I wonder what story you will share with me? I have my own special scrapbook so we can document our wonderful adventures together and then we can show everyone back at class. How exciting?!
If your child chooses to bring Everywhere Bear home, we would appreciate it if you could add pictures and write a note about what he has been up to. If you cannot add pictures, you could send them on Dojo for school to print. It can be as simple as sharing what you ate for tea together that night as this could trigger a conversation about our favourite foods, for example. Thank you for your support.
