Class Teacher - Mr I Blundell
Teaching Assistant - Mrs J Moseley
Hello and welcome to Elm Class, Year 3.
Year 3 is an exciting year at St Anne's and St Joseph's, with the children moving up from Infants and Key Stage 1, and beginning to enjoy Juniors.
It is wonderful to have the children back in school - they are settling into Key Stage 2 brilliantly!
I am the class teacher, Mr Blundell, and we are very lucky to have Mrs Moseley as our Teaching Assistant this year. The children all know Mrs Moseley from Infants - and she has been invaluable in supporting their transition into Year 3.
We have begun this term reading Paddington Bear, and using this text to link some of the learning from Year 2 into Year 3. The children have really enjoyed the book, and have produced some excellent written work already.
In Maths, we are really keen to consolidate some of those basic skills which underpin so much learning. We will continue to focus on our times tables, place value and gaining a better understanding of number. I am keen to share my love of maths with the children!
As always, reading is very important in Year 3. We will continue to make time in class for all sorts of reading: Guided reading, reading for pleasure, shared reading and teacher reading. Our current class novel - chosen by the children democratically - is Nelly the Monster Sitter.
Throughout the week in all that we do, we will be focusing on kindness. The children are encouraged to always be kind and always be brave. They should try their best in all that they do, and look after one another. Our classroom is a place of kindness, where the children can have the confidence to try hard and achieve great things! In Elm Class, anything is possible!
In Year 3, the children also have the opportunity to go swimming. Again, they are encouraged to take on the challenge and try their best. Swimming will be each Friday afternoon throughout this Autumn term.
My main means of communication with parents will be through the Class Dojo facility. Please do contact me if you have any questions at all.
